Logical not Emotional Decision Making

Simple way to avoid many wasteful time draining bad choices in business and life.

Make decisions from logic rather than emotion.

Anytime you catch yourself getting emotional about a situation that requires you to make a choice. BEWARE!

Take time away from the situation to level your thoughts and really think about what it is that you need to do. Hold off on any decision making while being influenced by emotion.

Take as much time as needed for you to come to your senses and think logically.

THEN…

After thinking it through with a level head and logic you can make your decision.

Trust me when I tell you this. You will be amazed at how much more effective and successful you will become in MANY, MANY areas of your business and life.

CPA Marketing B.S.

This is a bit of a rant as much as it is a statement of running a profitable business.

Here is the scenario:

You own and operate a CPA website and the majority of offers you payout on are not actual purchases but rather leads. So for example you offer a “publisher” $1.25 per lead they bring you for a certain offer.

NOW…

What kind of approval process would you have?

I understand that approving someone for a “publisher” account before allowing them to advertise for you can help in some areas. (such as what kind of site they may display your offers on)

BUT…

Do you really think for one second mister (CPA site owners) that people are only generating leads from the specific site they submit for review?

Hell no #1

And #2: I call B.S. on anyone that says a CPA site has standards to keep when it comes to whom they want advertising their offers. Or for that matter how they are delivered their leads.

Blatant stuff such as spamming C.L. and other sites I understand the CPA sites frown upon. But not because it is “un-ethical” but because they wanna cover their ass against certain accusations. Or pissing some site or bigger companies off and losing accounts, etc… There is much more “behind-the scenes” going on here.

Kind of like when someone reads a review in MotorTrend magazine about say a new Ford or Chevy vehicle. And one is touted with exaggerated performing numbers while the other is hammered. The truth is as deep as the pockets of the advertisers in the magazine. And you can bet your butt if Ford has a good amount of money invested in marketing campaigns within MotorTrend’s magazine they are going to get a nice “boost” in reviews. (perhaps a little exaggeration towards the positive of certain things???)

So as for the CPA sites. Ones that operate on a approval only basis really are not doing anything but losing A LOT of money. You know as well as I know that “where” your leads come from are not important to you. You have a quota that you want to meet on campaigns to keep your advertisers happy. The less leads you bring them the more likely they will go elsewhere with their advertising. The same as for publishers. The more hoops you make us jump through the more likely we will just go somewhere else.

Tons of publishers have been yanked around with receiving payments and just wanna sell. You (CPA) sites have advertiser’s offers you want to get out to the public. And we wanna bring you the public. So how about putting away the “honest-boy” agenda of approvals and get to the point. You wanna make money and so do we.

So I suggest if you run a CPA site you really need to think about the whole approval process B.S. Because the fact of the matter is not many people have ethics anymore when it comes to business.

Just cause a girl doesn’t kiss on the first date still doesn’t mean she isn’t a whore. IT takes time to figure out.

THE FIX:

If a CPA company is hard up on APPROVAL then base it off of performance rather than your first impression. Approve a site instantly. And then if they are not performing up to par then you can boot them!

Cash Crate -Project-

When it comes to survey sites I am usually very leery. I don’t venture off into this area much. Lots of sites come and go every year in this market.

I kinda stumbled upon Cash Crate and looked it over a bit. After seeing quite a few signups and a pretty active forum I decided to give it a try. They have a nice layout and an easy to navigate website.

Most people venture off into this kind of site ranting and raving about how much money they or are making. Without REALLY disclosing their TRUE profit! I’m going to take a different approach.

I signed up today. 6-11-07

For a fun little side project I am going to update any interested reader with updates on my “cash made” progress from CashCrate.com

I will detail where and how I advertised my referrals so you too can follow the steps. (if they are profitable anyways)

So project “CASHCRATE” starts NOW!

Use Adwords to Sell Products

If you find that your affiliate links are not as effective as you would like them to be, despite forum posting, article marketing and all that good stuff, it’s time to consider a new method. There is a new hype going around about using Adwords to sell your affiliate products and it is a pretty good idea. The whole thing is quite simple, really, and you will learn everything you need to right here in this article.

Affiliates can be notoriously difficult to sell. Most people join the program and never get anywhere. After a month or two without sales, they give up and quite trying. The few who do manage to earn money are excellent promoters and few and far between. You have a better chance of earning with your own business in most cases.

However, there are exceptions. You can actually use Adwords to get people to buy your affiliate products without having to do any promotion at all, it is all taken care of by Google’s promotion package. You will have to pay a small amount, but since Google allows you to set your budget, you can keep your costs low until you have sold several affiliate products and earned enough to bump your budget up.

The whole thing is quite simple. You sign up for one or more affiliate programs and get the codes. This is usually easiest when you work through one conglomerate that brings hundreds of programs together under one roof, like Clickbank or ShareASale. You can take on as many affiliate products as you wish and market them.

First, you will need to sign up for a Google Adwords account if you don’t already have one. This is extremely easy and only requires email verification before you are able to start pumping out ads. Your affiliate product will give you the inspiration for your ads. For example, if you are trying to sell an ebook on Ebay selling techniques, you might write an ad that looks something like this:

“Earn Massive Cash Today, Ebay secrets that every reseller needs to know. You can earn on auctions.”

You can experiment with different types of ads, aimed at different markets. The idea is to get people to click on the ad, of course. You will be able to specify a link for the ad and this should be your affiliate link. Put a simpler one in the link that will actually be shown with the ad, since they don’t have to be the same and you don’t want people to know that you are using affiliate links.

Now, you can set your price to as low as you want, even one cent per click, although this will probably take you out of the running! Instead, go for 5-10 cents a click and specify the amount you want to spend per day. If you want to, you can limit your ad to just three clicks per day! Start small and build up, $2-5 is a good daily amount to start off with.

From here, Google will take over, placing your ads on any relevant website that has AdSense as well as displaying them on the main search page whenever anyone looks at anything to do with Ebay. You pay only for the clicks that go through. The whole idea is that people will click because they are interested and hopefully buy the product through your affiliate link. Not a bad way to earn some cash with minimum investment.

Website Statistics Junky

Checking your site stats is Good. BUT, when is enough, enough? I’ve read debates that swing both ways. Pro and Cons to checking to often. If you check often the only downfall I see is NOT letting the negative results/changes in traffic freak you out.

Sometimes I do get pissed when I see things happen that “I” think should not. But I then realize that this is “MY” thoughts. And perhaps I need to look outside of my pissed-off self in that moment, and figure out “WHY” certain things (traffic not converting, etc…) are the way they are.

Usually the effects of looking at stuff I may have overlooked or ignored are VERY productive in the long run. If I was to stew and obsess over negative statistics I miss the entire reason for even tracking stats on any of my sites. Which is to have a better understanding of what the “reader/customer” is doing.

SO, if you are a stat freak like myself it is OK. People will still like you and you are not alone. BUT, please do not let the normal ups and downs of things make you work any less. Take the time to figure out “WHY” certain things are doing what they do. And use it to better your strategies and correcting your mistakes to create a more successful site/sites.
